Sargeant Marine, Inc. was formed in 1983 by Mr. Harry Sargeant, Sr. following
his distinguished career as a naval officer. The company concentrated on the transportation
of asphalt products through chartered vessels. In 1989, the company introduced
into the market ISO bitumen containers that would enable the shipment of asphalt
product in 20 ton lots to remote destinations worldwide.
In 1992, Sargeant Marine commenced acquiring asphalt tankers in order to continue
servicing the growing needs of their customers. By 1996, the company had grown
to a fleet of six chartered or owned asphalt tankers, one ocean tug, three ocean
barges and several hundred bulk containers. The company purchased and converted
the vessel, Asphalt Commander, which at the time was the largest asphalt tanker
in the world at 35,000 deadweight tons.
In 1997 and 1998, the company acquired two more tankers and an ocean-going
barge.
Today, Sargeant Marine utilizes the largest fleet of asphalt tankers and barges
in the world, enabling them to supply their valued customers with quality products
on safe and efficient modes of transportation.
